Perl Talk : Camels and Awesomeness

Coming soon to the Cal Poly Computer Science Department, from the people who brought you the cult classic “Linux for Newbs” and the Broadway hit “Lone Single Man presenting SVN” comes another technical talk that has all the ladies talking, “Man with Hat juggling Camels teaches you Perl”!

When: November 3rd, 7pm 2008
Where: Cal Poly SLO Computer Science Building, 14-301

This presentation will be done by our very own President, Austin Hendrix, and will provide an introductory look into Perl, how to use it, and why all the cool kids have been using it since 1987.

We look forward to seeing you then!

Flyer Here.

p.s. Don’t get the Camel references? Check out the wikipedia article.

May Events and an Apology

Our sincere apologies to anyone who ended up wandering the English building looking for us. It was quite a typo.

Upcoming May Events

5/6 – Bash Scripting Talk of Doom Death (Tentative, but appropriate, title)
Josh, aka SillyG, aka President of CPLUG, will be giving a talk on BASH scripting Tuesday May 13th at 7pm in a room to be determined. A lot of us have been waiting for this to happen, so come on by and learn a thing or two.

Update: Check our facebook group (cplug) and the BASH event through there for location, time, etc.

Power O’ Unix

That’s right boys and girls, it’s time for the leaving seniors to part their infinite wisdom upon you in ways you never thought possible.

WHAT: Power of UNIX talk.
WHAT? Learn how to use the commandline of your linux or unix based system.
WHERE: Bldg 14, Room 30[1,2,3] (somewhere upstairs in the compsci building)
WHEN: Thursday, Oct 18th 7:00PM.
WHY? Because the commandline is better than a loaf of bread (yet equal in awesomeness to sliced bread).

This event was a great success last year, so we’re doing it again. Come by to learn or share as your experience allows.
All ages, genders, and majors welcome.
