Perl Talk : Camels and Awesomeness

Coming soon to the Cal Poly Computer Science Department, from the people who brought you the cult classic “Linux for Newbs” and the Broadway hit “Lone Single Man presenting SVN” comes another technical talk that has all the ladies talking, “Man with Hat juggling Camels teaches you Perl”!

When: November 3rd, 7pm 2008
Where: Cal Poly SLO Computer Science Building, 14-301

This presentation will be done by our very own President, Austin Hendrix, and will provide an introductory look into Perl, how to use it, and why all the cool kids have been using it since 1987.

Subversion Talk

Come make sure you don’t ever lose important code again! Track your changes! Work easily with friends! Be Awesome and Hip! Come learn about Subversion, aka SVN, and other types of version control!

Where: 14-301, Upstairs in the Computer Science building, Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo
When: Monday, October 20th 7pm 2008

This talk is applicable to all Computer Scientists, Software Engineers and Computer Engineers. If you don’t use Version Control, or don’t know what it is, you better be here for the sake of all that is good in the world.

CPLUG + FYM LAN Party

So we’re helping out ACM with their LAN party this weekend, mainly because they’d be lost without us. So come be apart of team Penguin as we mop the floor with those “professional club” floozies.

FYM this Saturday

Do you want Linux installed on the machine of your choice for free? Do you want to hang with awesome people? Do you need an excuse to eat large amounts of pizza? If you even considered answering yes to any of those questions, then come to the CPLUG Free Your Machine this weekend.

When:  Saturday, Oct 4th from 10AM to 2PM
Where: Bldg 20, Room 124 (Cisco Networks Lab)

Please try to show up as early as possible, we will not be starting installs after 1pm.

Although not required, we would appreciate it if you sent an email to execboard at lists.cplug.org with the subject “Fall FYM” letting us know your name, and your computers processor, graphics card, and wireless card, ifyou plan on needing help with an install.
