On Power of Unix

Sorry this is so late, we will get the info up faster next time, just been busy with school and what not.

One of the things many people have been asking for is the ~/.screenrc file that victor uses. Victor learned about it from this Gentoo page. but the file should contain the following:

# use visual bell
vbell on
# replace ctrl-A by ctrl-O
escape ^Oo
# set a big scrolling buffer
defscrollback 5000
# Set the caption on the bottom line
caption always "%{= kw}%-w%{= BW}%n %t%{-}%+w %-= @%H - %LD %d %LM - %c"

I hope to get the other info up soon, also we need to finish getting the pages ready. It will happen this quarter, I promise.

Look forward to our SSH talk sometime in November.

New Website Live?!?

That’s right fellow penguin lovers, the new CPLUG website is live!

There are still a few bugs to work out, and we still need to clean up the old information, and port over user profiles, but we have decided to put up the site now just to be amazing.

If you have any complaints, log them either on IRC or on the mailing list, or even email execboard at cplug dot org.

look forward to more updates every monday night.

Power O’ Unix

That’s right boys and girls, it’s time for the leaving seniors to part their infinite wisdom upon you in ways you never thought possible.

WHAT: Power of UNIX talk.
WHAT? Learn how to use the commandline of your linux or unix based system.
WHERE: Bldg 14, Room 30[1,2,3] (somewhere upstairs in the compsci building)
WHEN: Thursday, Oct 18th 7:00PM.
WHY? Because the commandline is better than a loaf of bread (yet equal in awesomeness to sliced bread).

This event was a great success last year, so we’re doing it again. Come by to learn or share as your experience allows.
All ages, genders, and majors welcome.
